Integrity management applications deliver insights about facilities, operations, inspections, repairs, and modifications throughout the life cycle of an asset. Asset integrity management (AIM) systems in oil and gas improve reliability and enable the efficient and safe operation of equipment. Companies with superior Integrity management systems have generally shown increases in the operational service life of their assets such as wells, pipelines, and facilities.

Cenozon is a scaleup offering cloud-based integrity management software. The startup’s solution, Pipeline Integrity Risk Manager (PIRM), offers insights into real-time operations. It assists engineers in making faster decisions, meet compliance, and reduce pipeline incident rates. PIRM also provides an automated pipeline risk assessment with notifications.

Within their application, Cenozon has adopted new database structures to assist with advancing and empowering their tool and the development team. “Open-source applications such as PostgreSQL really allow for fast development with a ton of flexibility, which is key to Cenozon as we are continually integrating information into our systems from other unique industry devices and applications,” explains Mark.

Cenozon is also adopting mobile technologies. With the recent launch of their mobile app FIND, Cenozon is bringing the fieldwork and office closer together. It’s collecting, verifying, scheduling, and validating, and of course, locating knowledge that can be passed on through the organization instantaneously. It’s not just collecting static data or inspections but creating repeatable workflows (forms) that are customizable and configurable by any organization or business unit.

Another technology Cenozon is developing is their In-line Inspection module—FLOW—is taking them down the path of machine learning. “Inspections collect millions of data points in a 360-degree radius every millimeter down a pipe. This is multiplied by the distance the inspection is covering. These In-line Inspection (also known as SMART PIGS) are the best way to determine the condition of the pipeline,” says Mark. “Sometimes they are performed frequently, but they need to be compared to not just the last, but all previous runs. Getting a better understanding of the condition and changes over time allows for a proper asset management process to be established.”

Centralization of information is key to intelligence. “We’ve learned that by automating data pull, linking the data to the assets, and creating a visual representation in a plethora of views (Tabular, graphical, statistical and analytically), we are offering a multiplier by always having near real-time records available,” explain Woynarowich. “Our tool has shown that users decreased their decision-making time twofold while increasing the confidence in those same decisions by over 30%.”

Today, as Cenozon transitions into the midstream and transmission industries, they know their tool already has the capability to multiply their operational efficiencies. “Our current clients in this environment have been seeing increased operational awareness, greater transparency between business units and stronger management decision-making process because of their ability to communicate clearly with more consistency,” he says. “We are building off our first version of ILI (in-line inspection) where we improved industry’s use of current and historical inspection data and high-level KPIs and association.”
